Synonyms: pi-filters

Subtag of filter

A particular type of passive filter consisting of three reactive elements of different kind (two capacitors and one inductor or vice-versa) connected into a so called greek-pi configuration (hence the name).

Tag Wiki

The filter circuit consists of 3 nodes, an input node where the input voltage is applied (let's call it A), an output node where the output voltage is taken (let's call it B), a common node which is the reference for both input and output voltages (let's call it G).

There are two kinds of pi filters: high-pass and low-pass.

In low-pass pi filters two capacitors are placed across A-G and B-G, respectively, whereas an inductor is placed across A-B.

In high-pass pi filters two inductors are placed across A-G and B-G, respectively, whereas a capacitor is placed across A-B.
