Posts tagged sensor

Synonyms: sensors

Anything about sensors, a very broad class of devices whose purpose is to convert some physical quantity into an electrical one (e.g. voltage, current, resistance or capacitance).

A sensor can be used, together with a suitable interface circuit, to convert the physical quantity they are sensitive to into an electrical signal.

Common sensors include, for example, pressure sensors, temperature sensors, light sensors, acceleration sensors (accelerometers), speed sensors (tachometers), force sensors, and many others.

There are also sensors for electrical quantities that convert this latter in more convenient form, for example current sensors for converting a current into a voltage.
