An electric motor is an electrical device that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy.

Its operation is based on the magnetic coupling between the outer, fixed part of the motor (the stator) and the internal coaxial part (the rotor), which can spin around its axis due to the magnetic forces that are generated when the motor is powered. The rotor is connected to an axle that can deliver the mechanical energy so produced to a mechanical load.
