Currently, I enrolled myself in a master's course this fall in the field of Computer Engineering. I am excited to create my microcontroller projects. I want to understand how much complexity is expected in my project to be industry-ready. I want to understand what the industry expects from a master's student. I have been doing some basic DIY toy projects, I need some suggestions so that I can put in some extra effort. I know embedded is a vast field with many sub-domains, but right now I don't want to start any project that involves RTOS, Linux, etc. Any suggestions from automobile, medical, avionics etc.?

Get an internship at a company. You'll get exposure to an industry-grade project in an industrial environment.
