Over-voltage protection for device with photovoltaic cell source I have a solar panel rated for 6V open-circuit and up to 150mA. I would like to connect this to an SPV1040 or similar buck-boost converter with MPPT functionality to be able to charge a 3.6V battery under cloudy conditions. The problem is that the SPV1040 has a maximum input voltage of 5.5V, while... (more) |

How to check realistic specs of small solar panel? I have a small solar panel rated for 6V/DC, 150mA. I know that those specs are under ideal circumstances, and I would like to do some measurements in different weather conditions to see what I can expect. To measure voltage I can of course use a multimeter. For current, I think I know what to do, ... (more) |

Why do large RAM chips not have a serial interface? I have a PIC32MZ2048ECG064, a 64-pin 32-bit microcontroller with 512kB RAM. This is not enough for my purposes, I need to extend it by at least 32MB, preferably 64 or 128. I believe this means I can only use DRAM, because other types would not be available in this size. I read that devices in thi... (more) |
