Subtag of inductor

Anything about inductor core saturation, a heavily non-linear phenomenon that may affect inductors and transformers having ferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic (ferrite) cores.

As the current in the cored inductor winding increases the B magnetic field in the core increases as well. The field increases in approximately linear fashion until the field reaches a value Bsat, specific for the core material and geometry. Further increasing the current doesn't affect the field much, and this can drastically change the electrical behavior of the inductor, sometimes with dire consequences.
