Anything about MOSFET gate driver circuits (often simply called "gate drivers").

A gate driver is an interface circuit between a logic input and a power MOSFET, whose purpose is to allow low power circuits to control the switching behavior of a power MOSFET reliably and efficiently.

This tag is also appropriate for IGBT gate drivers, which have the same functions and are conceptually the same thing, since an IGBT's input transistor is indeed a MOSFET.

A power MOSFET, especially big ones, constitute heavy capacitive loads because of their large input capacitance. Moreover that capacitance is also non-linear because of the Miller effect (due to feedback between drain and gate).

Therefore making a large power MOSFET to switch with the desired switching characteristics is quite a feat. For this purpose gate driver circuits have been designed, that can provide the hefty current needed to charge and discharge the MOSFET gate capacitance with the right timing required by the application.

Q&A What is the difference between rise/fall time and Turn-On/off Delay Time?

Hi guys so recently i was looking for a mosfet and a gate drivers and between a lot of their specification the rise/fall time and Turn-On/off Delay Time sometime it called propagation. My question...
