What is the popular 12 V DC jack connector?

I'm designing a PCB for a project. 12 volt input power supply is provided externally, so the user will buy a power adapter, so putting a popular DC jack on the PCB is the best choice.

One common 12 V DC power connector is the "2.1 mm plug": 2.1mm inner diameter, 5.5mm outer diameter. Jameco says it is one of the most common DC power connector.

Several Sparkfun power connectors are 2.1 mm plug compatible.

Several Adafruit power connectors are 2.1 mm plug compatible.

Many devices, including some GoTo telescope mounts, many CCTV cameras, the power socket on Arduino boards, etc. are 2.1 mm plug compatible. (Like most devices powered with barrel connectors, they require Tip Positive, and a range of voltages that includes 12 VDC).

There is no "standard" 12 V DC jack. Asking end users to buy a separate power supply is asking for trouble. Don't expect users to know about center-positive versus center-negative, and inner and outer barrel diameter.

If this is an OEM product, then you can provide binding posts or even just labeled solder pads for +12 V and the return. Otherwise, your product should come with whatever power supply is needed.
