Suppose we have this circuit which is supposed to be an unbalanced frequency mixer. But how does the diode generate a signal with new frequencies at the output?

  • How can a diode be used to create an unbalanced frequency mixer?The article on Wikipedia doesnt explain it very much because it doesnt say how 2 signals can be the inputs for the unbalanced mixer which will create the new frequencies.Any help?

How can a diode be used to create an unbalanced frequency mixer?The article on Wikipedia doesnt explain it very much because it doesnt say how 2 signals can be the inputs for the unbalanced mixer which will create the new frequencies.Any help?
