Question | — |
MAX809's Irregularity Depending on Load I have a MAX809 with RESET pin connected to the gate of IRLML6344. I will rephrase my question. At 5 V, RESET is also 5 V and the LED lights up. But if I add the fan, RESET drops to 0 V and draws 140 mA. Adding a 100 nF cap solved this problem. What is happening here? Image alt text Then ... (more) |

Thank you. This explanation is at my level. :) I make sure nothing overheats as I used it. But I wondered why the op amp failed before. I did notice the 5V supply consuming twice the current as I turn R2 to increase the current thru the MOSFET. That is why I am worried if there is lacking in my circu... (more) |

Sorry I wasnt clear in saying that I am making a constant current load tester. From what I understand from the maker of this circuit. I need R1 to be low, and the oscillation at the gate of the MOSFET makes the current constant. (more) |

I changed the link. This is for a constant current load tester, for batteries and testing the current rating of buck converters. It works with the load negative connected to ground. MOSFET source resistor is 1ohm. No op-amp supply decoupling. (more) |

Question | — |
Constant Current Load Circuit with Op Amp Hi, I built a constant current load following the circuit from https://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Constant-current-load/ But my op amp gets destroyed after a few minutes. The transistor or the op amp didnt get hot to the touch. After replacing the op amp the circuit works again for a short time.... (more) |

Answer | — |
A: Driving LED with NPN transistor from I/O pin I have tried to drive a series of smd led with constant current. If it is rated for 3.3V, I run it at around 3V. It doesnt get hot even without a heatsink, 60C. So thermal runaway is only a problem under extreme and unlikely circumstance. This also results to higher power efficiency theoretically. T... (more) |

Hi, related question: if relays need diode why arent they fitted with it as a unit? (more) |
