Anything about LED driver circuits, i.e. circuits designed to provide light emitting diodes (LEDs) the appropriate power for their reliable operation.

LEDs are current-driven devices, so a LED driver is most often some kind of constant-current source (or an approximation thereof). A LED driver can be as simple as a single resistor, or can be a complicated circuit (maybe integrated) employing DC-DC conversion techniques and protection features against various overload conditions.

Q&A LED driver with feedback through light. Which feedback topology is better?

I’d like to create a stable IR LED light source. I’ve read that LED efficiency changes with temperature. I’ve seen two designs which used feedback through light to correct the LED temperature dri...

Q&A LED with a parallel resistor

It is common to have a series resistor to limit the current trough an LED. I saw a circuit using the LED driver: stp16cpc26. but instead having the series resistor, they are in parallel. This LED...

Q&A Name of this current limiting device

I'm trying to modify a LED torch, and there is a DC-DC booster (1.5 V to 3.3 V) and after that some SOT-23 device which (I assume) keeps constant 90 mA current through LED. I know I could remove th...
