Comment Post #285170 I don't know what makes it special, but https://electrical.codidact.com/posts/279580 is consistently one of the top hits in our Google analytics. I don't know what's special about that post (is it an unusual but important topic in EE?), but I hope y'all do.

Comment Post #285032 Ouch, I'm sorry. We've had some issues with comments that range from brusque to rude and we're trying to improve that. Can you flag the comments you saw so that somebody can take a look? Thanks.

Question How can we grow this community?
Codidact's communities have a lot of great content that is helping people on the Internet. Our communities are small, though, and sustainable communities depend on having lots of active, engaged participants. The folks already here are doing good work; our challenge is to find more people like you ...

Comment Post #280564 Whoops, sorry -- didn't remember that embedded systems were off-topic on Software Dev. I guess that's pretty different from other software. (Not my field, sorry.)

Comment Post #280564 FYI, the Software Development community has a category for [code reviews](https://software.codidact.com/categories/44). I don't know if the things you're asking about are EE-specialized enough that folks on a general software-dev community wouldn't be able to help, but perhaps try asking a couple re...

Comment Post #280344 @OlinLathrop could you make the specific rep proposals in an answer so the community can more easily weigh in? I'm happy to set them to whatever y'all want, but don't want to assume that people will dig down into this comment thread. Current values are +10 and -2.

Comment Post #280344 @OlinLathrop we can already set rep differently per post type; questions are 5 but answers and articles are 10. I'd like to be able to set rep per post type *per category*, but that's harder. What we have now is the ability to create new post types with different properties, like the new Wiki type ...

Answer A: Let's have a "Papers" category.
We can now support changing the reputation values for papers, if this is what the EE community would like. Here's how it would work. We can't currently vary properties of post types per category, like saying that Article posts in Papers grant higher rep but that Article posts in a hypothetical blo...

Comment Post #279602 @Canina I just came across a problem with votes that left a trail, so I've reported that to devs for investigation.

Comment Post #279602 @OlinLathrop the missing answers have been restored. We made a broader sweep, so *should* have gotten any other missing answers too; please let us know if anything else is missing.

Answer A: Paper disappeared - and my rating as well
We think everything is back now. For more information, see this post. If you notice anything else that's gone missing, please let us know. Sorry about the inconvenience! We will investigate why our "apply deltas" process missed things. Fortunately, we have a complete backup from right before the...

Comment Post #279103 @NickAlexeev no formal draft yet, but we have some [sketches](https://www.figma.com/file/JruvBgIXHyiEseK1KMN7pl/hold-vote?node-id=0%3A1) illustrating a workflow and feedback. Exact close reasons aren't right (also, communities can customize those), but that's the idea up for discussion. Key points:...

Comment Post #279103 We actually have sketched out some workflows for this, though they're preliminary. The key ideas are: (a) collect information from the voters *and transmit it to the author immediately*, (b) give the author *guidance* to address issues, and (c) adjust some language. One main category of reasons is ...

Comment Post #276809 This should be fixed now. Some rep was over-reported, and then there was an issue in some troll-mitigation changes that made things go haywire. We believe the rep numbers now showing are the true numbers.

Answer A: Let's have a "Papers" category.
I've created the category and enabled the Article post type (only). It uses the same tag set as Q&A. If you want me to change either of those, let me know. Please let me know what you'd like the text in the short description at the top to say and I'll add that. When you create a help page abo...

Comment Post #276155 Reproduced. The issue seems to be specifically when *editing* an answer, and it's not about images specifically: the live preview for the answer doesn't show up. It does when *posting* an answer, so this is an edit-specific problem.

Comment Post #276146 I don't think sites want lots of categories either. Categories aren't tags. In designing them we were envisioning a site having maybe as many as 4 or 5 (Q&A, meta, blog, contests, maybe something else -- not necessarily all of those on any particular site).

Comment Post #276146 I'm not qualified to comment on the content of this, but a note on mechanics in case it affects the discussion: if you have types of questions that have fundamentally different requirements, you could consider creating a category for them. Comment Post #275960 I'm hoping your other initial users can help with that; one person needn't (and shouldn't) bear the entire load for a community. I do think it'd be better to have *something* there before you start reaching out to people; the difference between "there's going to be a good thing here, trust me" and "h...

Comment Post #275960 I think it would help if the people you reach out to saw at least a couple questions in Q&A. A blank page can be a little off-putting. You know your target audience better than I do, but consider a little content to start? I don't think you need a lot, just something (of decent quality) to give pe...

Question Welcome to Electrical Engineering!
Welcome to the Codidact site for Electrical Engineering! We're glad you're here and we're excited to see what you will build. This community is starting "from scratch", without importing Q&A from other sites, so your community can set its own direction. Please ask questions about electrical engine...
