A: Still getting downvotes - what are you guys doing about it? I am sorry for the aggravation. Clearly we're going to need to bump up the priority of voting-fraud mitigation. We've taken action against the user (yes, as you suspected, one user) and the votes will be invalidated. That's just playing whack-a-mole, though. There are a few things we can adjust... (more) |

Thanks @#53110. I'm not a domain expert, nor even qualified to participate in the main areas of this community; I monitor all the community metas to see if there are places where I can help with information, but I'm not trying to argue for a particular outcome here. I agree that the name is less im... (more) |

Is the distinction between "papers" (implying research, along the lines of what one might submit to a journal or conference) and general-purpose resources/articles/teaching? Another community uses "resources" as the category name for the latter, in case that helps. I don't know how clear "insights"... (more) |

Sounds like a good result, yes! What other areas of EE are not well-covered out there, that people here could cover? (more) |

One of the top searches is "capacitance multiplier". I don't have the details of what searches led to what pages (including what else led to that page), but it's reporting more new hits on that page than new uses of that search, so that's clearly not the only one. (more) |

I don't know what makes it special, but https://electrical.codidact.com/posts/279580 is consistently one of the top hits in our Google analytics. I don't know what's special about that post (is it an unusual but important topic in EE?), but I hope y'all do. (more) |

Ouch, I'm sorry. We've had some issues with comments that range from brusque to rude and we're trying to improve that. Can you flag the comments you saw so that somebody can take a look? Thanks. (more) |

Question | — |
How can we grow this community? Codidact's communities have a lot of great content that is helping people on the Internet. Our communities are small, though, and sustainable communities depend on having lots of active, engaged participants. The folks already here are doing good work; our challenge is to find more people like you ... (more) |

FYI, the Software Development community has a category for [code reviews](https://software.codidact.com/categories/44). I don't know if the things you're asking about are EE-specialized enough that folks on a general software-dev community wouldn't be able to help, but perhaps try asking a couple re... (more) |

@OlinLathrop could you make the specific rep proposals in an answer so the community can more easily weigh in? I'm happy to set them to whatever y'all want, but don't want to assume that people will dig down into this comment thread. Current values are +10 and -2. (more) |

Comment | Post #280344 |
@OlinLathrop we can already set rep differently per post type; questions are 5 but answers and articles are 10. I'd like to be able to set rep per post type *per category*, but that's harder. What we have now is the ability to create new post types with different properties, like the new Wiki type ... (more) |

A: Let's have a "Papers" category. We can now support changing the reputation values for papers, if this is what the EE community would like. Here's how it would work. We can't currently vary properties of post types per category, like saying that Article posts in Papers grant higher rep but that Article posts in a hypothetical blo... (more) |

@NickAlexeev no formal draft yet, but we have some [sketches](https://www.figma.com/file/JruvBgIXHyiEseK1KMN7pl/hold-vote?node-id=0%3A1) illustrating a workflow and feedback. Exact close reasons aren't right (also, communities can customize those), but that's the idea up for discussion. Key points:... (more) |

We actually have sketched out some workflows for this, though they're preliminary. The key ideas are: (a) collect information from the voters *and transmit it to the author immediately*, (b) give the author *guidance* to address issues, and (c) adjust some language. One main category of reasons is ... (more) |

This should be fixed now. Some rep was over-reported, and then there was an issue in some troll-mitigation changes that made things go haywire. We believe the rep numbers now showing are the true numbers. (more) |

Reproduced. The issue seems to be specifically when *editing* an answer, and it's not about images specifically: the live preview for the answer doesn't show up. It does when *posting* an answer, so this is an edit-specific problem. (more) |

I don't think sites want lots of categories either. Categories aren't tags. In designing them we were envisioning a site having maybe as many as 4 or 5 (Q&A, meta, blog, contests, maybe something else -- not necessarily all of those on any particular site). (more) |

I'm hoping your other initial users can help with that; one person needn't (and shouldn't) bear the entire load for a community. I do think it'd be better to have *something* there before you start reaching out to people; the difference between "there's going to be a good thing here, trust me" and "h... (more) |

I think it would help if the people you reach out to saw at least a couple questions in Q&A. A blank page can be a little off-putting.
