Anything about filters, i.e. linear circuits whose purpose is to limit or shape the spectrum of a signal. This tag is also OK for digital filters implemented in software.

A filter can be either passive or active, either analog or digital, and, in this latter case, implemented in hardware or software.

Tag Wiki

A filter can be either passive, i.e. built using just simple R-L-C components or more advanced passive components (resonators, quartz crystals, SAW filters, etc.), or active, i.e. built using not only passive components, but also active circuitry like opamps.

A filter can also be either analog, i.e. built with analog circuits, or digital, i.e. built with digital electronic circuits which work on the samples of the signal.

Digital filters can be either built in hardware or in software, using the processing power of a microcontroller or a DSP to implement an algorithm that processes the samples of the signal.

Q&A Complex frequency of a pole

If we have the transfer function of a LC high pass filter: $H(s) = \frac{sL}{sL+\frac{1}{sC}}$ If we want to find the pole of that filter in the end we get: $s = \frac{j}{\sqrt{LC}}$ and for a ...

Q&A How to convert dv/dt of noise into frequency for filter capacitor selection?

Noise can be coupled between signal lines through parasitic capacitance formed between these signal lines, as $i = C\frac{dv}{dt}$ where C is the capacitance between the signal lines. Another wa...
